Sri Lanka Andalusite 1.86 ct

Brilliant Pear Design by Jeff Graham
Faceting by Dale Carriere

A wonderful Andalusite gemstone clearly showing the two color pleochroic display of amber and orange. In addition, although the photo does not display this well, there is a strong greenish component to this gemstone. In the rough, the stone displayed a flash of red when turned just right.– the faceted stone clearly displays green to amber-orange with hints of red - a truly remarkable specimen.

Dale Carriere did an excellent job picking the correct design to display these colors. The stone is just about eye clean, if you look close you can see a few small inclusions close to the perimeter – but they are virtually invisible under normal viewing.

The unusual rough for this gemstone was imported directly by Jeffrey Hunt from Sri Lanka. It is rare to find Andalusite in a custom cut stone.
