This beautiful stone represents yet another example of the elegant design aesthetic of Jeffrey Hunt. Deceptively simple, with 69 crown and pavilion facets, this stone is a wonderful example of how checkerboard style crowns virtually eliminate any tilt windowing. This gem absolutely shines from every viewing angle. The distinct cross, or “X”, which highlights the crown makes for a novel alternative to the standard checker top design.

While I do not typically cut synthetics, I felt that this blue spinel would perfectly complement this unique design. With its high refractive index and durability, spinel is an ideal medium from which to test cut many new faceting diagrams, especially when aiming for a stone of significant size. Nevertheless, the “Cross” design features angles that are sure to please, from quartz to cubic zirconia.

This is the premiere design for GREEN GEM FOUNDATION. The gem featured here is the very first test cut in synthetic spinel.

The unique design is cut only by David Dawson and is available through Retail Outlets. Reserve exclusive rights to this design now.
