Oregon Sunstone

This design is a simple step cut freeform pattern. I studied this stone for a couple of months and talked to several cutters before I could actually see what the rough was calling for. I ended up throwing the book aside and simply cutting the girdle taking what the stone would give me and then I developed the angles that show the stones heart and colors. The Gem ended up providing me with 5.9 carats of water clear, IF grade, multi colored beautiful gemstone. With this beauty you can see red’s, green’s, brown’s, yellows, all the colors that Oregon Sunstone is noted for. Plus a multitude of colors stripped from the light itself by the prism effect. Depending on how the light strikes it and the angle the stone is viewed from, it’s literally a kaleidoscope of color and my favorite of all the stones I have cut in the last six years.
