Madagascar Garnet 3.40 ctNine Squares Modified by Fred VanSantFaceting by Matt Dunkle A beautiful hot red Madagascar garnet expertly faceted by Matt Dunkle. This material is from a large parcel imported seven or eight years ago. The colors in the 1 kilo parcel range from dark red to hot orange/red to pink. The average rough size is approximately 17 cts each. A large portion of this material contains what I call micro-bubbles. Very small bubbles that cannot be seen by the naked eye. This gives some of the finished stones a wonderful glow, but sometimes cuts back on the brightness. This particular gem does contain small minute micro bubbles but is not the least bit sleepy. It is a wonderful example of a rich red Madagascar garnet. |
