Alberta Canada Ammolite 41.56 ct

Dragon Skin Crescent Moon
Cabochon Design by Ken Lack

This unique colorful ammolite is from Alberta, Canada. It was originally purchased as rough back in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s. I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire a large quantity of this rare material from a Rock and Mineral shop that has now closed its doors as so many have.

At its best, this material reminds me of black opal with it’s range of intense colors. There are also many different patterns that have been given actual names. I believe this one would be considered a dragonskin pattern. Well, the new owner can call it what they want. Whatever one calls it, this colorful gem will certainly make a stunning center piece for a custom pendant.

The approximate measurements on this wonderful ammolite are: 45 x 15 x 4mm
