Tom and I decided to model a few new designs for longer tourmaline crystals to see if we couldn't optimise for both performance and yield while still creating an interesting stone. The pavillion is a standard step pavillion with a few little extras. The crown, though, gives a great look and improves colour on lighter material. This rough was a piece I had in my "I'll never cut this" pile, so it was perfect for prototyping. Despite the small inclusions it turned into a fantastic stone.
