One of the surprise finds on the Madagascar trip were some amazing garnets. Not too dark, and a gorgeous cherry red with no silk at all. I bought quite a bit of the rough on my last day in Tana and have loved cutting it. The high RI and the brightness of these stones, as well as the affordable price, lets me cut more unusual designs.

This cut was designed by Nancy Attaway and is called "Antique Kite." In addition to being a great designer and cutter, Nancy is one of the nicest people around. It's a real pleasure for me to use her designs in my work.
