Pale Brazilian Citrine 4.45 ct

Beginner Blossom Design by Michiko Huynh
Faceting by Michiko Huynh

Several years ago I cut the Context cut in a piece of Oregon sunstone. The Context cut is probably the simplest cut shaped like two pyramids stuck together on the bottom. Even including the girdles, its total facet number is only 12. (The standard round brilliant has 73 facets including the girdles.)

However, I was totally surprised at the vivid scintillation when the Context cut stone was rocked. I saw it was not the numbers of facets but well placed facets and angles that make the stone lively and bright.

It inspired me to design my Beginner cut series. The aim of the series is high performance with fewer numbers of facets and meet points. This Beginner Blossom design is easy to cut and shows bright and unique flashes.
