Sri Lanka Sapphire 3.10 ct

Sri Lankan Traditional Native Cut Sapphire
Beautiful rich blue with a touch of lavender
Unheated and untreated

This stone is native cut, which means the faceting angles are not cut to optimize brightness. The stone however is cut to maximize caret weight and to enhance the beauty of the rich blue. Stones in Sri Lanka are traditionally admired for color and size. Looking closely you may also see the natural zoning that is typical of this species; the light zoning is broken up as the light reflects from the gem. The zoning guarantees the stone is natural.

The gem does have some inclusions towards the girdle that are very hard to see with the naked eye. There is a little bit of paper wear also. This stone is sold ready to wear or, for the ambitious faceter a stone ready to optimize to a brilliant Sri Lankan blue. The crown and pavilion are not far from correct angles, making an efficient re-cut possible.

For the color, this stone is a great price.
