Brazilian Blue Topaz Pear 276.90 ct2010 AGTA's Spectrum "Cutting Edge" Honorable Mention WinnerOriginal Pear Design and Faceting by Stephen Kotlowski Owned by Uniquely -K- Custom Gem's Topaz Photo by Stephen Kotlowski The dimensions of the stone are 49.76mm x 30.93mm. The material was from Minas Gerias, Brazil though I do not now the exact location and was part of a very large crystal of over 1700cts. It is the smaller of two stones that I cut from this crystal, the larger of which finished out to be a 500ct plus domed oval. This pear shape is a modification of a Portuguese Pear Shape and was created on the dop as I went along. This second section of the crystal was a part payment for the cutting on the first stone and has been in my personal collection waiting to be worked on since 1995, I only just decided to work on it this past September less then one week before the dead line so as to be entered in this years AGTA Spectrum "Cutting edge" Awards. |
