When I first moved to Tucson in 2005 I got the opportunity to explore and play with a life long passion for gemstones. The first taste came in 1978 as a wholesale salesman and then working the retail floor for an exclusive jade and jewelry chain in Hawaii. Having caught the bug, I then began wholesaling diamonds. A career change into engineering put that love on hold until the Tucson show. Starting out cutting opals I quickly moved into faceting gemstones. With mentoring from some of the top USFG competition cutters, combined with the discipline from years of scientific endeavors, I found the perfect marriage of my creative side with precision in cutting. Fascinated by the play of light and color as beauty emerges I am always in awe of the finished result when the “first light” shines through one of my creations. In order to get the best possible stone from the rough, I use extensive computer modeling and testing prior to deciding on a design. Sometimes I will cut a test stone first to ensure that it is the right design. Pure colors, like fireworks, stars, or sunsets, create a sense of awe and wonder in all of us. I feel blessed to be able to bring such creations to life and share them with you.
