Artist Profile

Michiko Huynh

Michiko is a hobbyist and competition faceter. She has successfully entered the USFG single stone competition for the past 6 years. This year (2011), she won the 2nd place in the grand master division. Previously she was a biochemist at a well-known pharmaceutical company. After she retired from the life science research, she started collecting gemstones. Looking at some commercial stones that were not optimally cut, she decided to cut stones herself. Now she is interested more in cutting rather than in collecting. Her goal is to show the beauty of a stone to its full potential through designing and faceting.
